Central Bank of Ireland – Respiratory protective equipment (RPE) programme

CBI manufactures and sorts a variety of coin and notes-based currency. Handling these can produce dust. During the maintenance of machines, respirators are worn by staff for protection. OHSS was asked to evaluate the effectiveness of this protection.

Steps taken:

• Face fit testing
• Implementation of RPE programme

Solution:

Working with the health and safety department, OHSS undertook a full respiratory protective programme evaluation. This included training and face fit testing using a PortaCountfacefit test machine.

Tangible benefits:

As a result of our work, CBI now has an effective RPE programme that is based on solid scientific principles.
