Our mission is to provide training programme to the highest quality and standard and to be the leading providers of Occupational Hygiene and Safety based consultancy in Ireland.
It is our aim to continuously exceed the expectations of our clients, and in doing so, to develop long term working relationships with them.
OHSS was established in 2001 as an Occupational Health and Safety based consultancy with specialists in the area of general safety and Occupational hygiene. Founder Paul Foran has extensive experience in the field both as a consultant and as a former Inspector with the Health & Safety Authority (www.hsa.ie) , where he was heavily involved in formulating health and safety policy making and legislation.
OHSS employs a diverse team of consultants who offer a combined 60 years experience of practical Health and Safety implementation and management. We draw on the core attributes of each individual consultant to deliver the highest standard of specialist health and safety services throughout Ireland and overseas as our role frequently takes a pan-European aspect, particularly when engaged by multi-nationals.
Our Team
Paul Foran - Managing Director
Paul is Managing Director of OHSS, a company he founded in 2001 and which now employs 11 people. He has over 15 years experience in the field of Health and Safety both as a consultant and an Inspector with the Health & Safety Authority (HSA).
Paul is a qualified Occupational Hygienist and holds an MA and MSc as well as Diplomas in Safety Health and Welfare at Work and Environmental Engineering. He is a member and lecturer for The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and a certified trainer for both IOSH and The British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS). Paul lectures on both the Certificate and Diploma course “Safety and Health at Work” in UCD and on the PostGraduate Safety in Construction Course at Trinity College. He has also completed a Certificate in Training with NUI Maynooth.
Keith Foran - Director
Keith specialises in Quarry and Construction Safety. He was a Construction/Mines and Quarries Inspector with the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) for six years prior to joining OHSS. In his former role, he was actively involved in enforcing various aspects of Health and Safety Legislation and in doing so, undertook numerous prosecutions in the District Courts, Circuit Criminal Courts and the High Court.
He draws on his years of enforcement experience to provide a clear understanding of the regulations and offer advice for cost effective compliance. Keith is actively involved in assisting quarrying and construction firms implement management systems that provide effective health and safety management with measurable cost benefits.
Keith is an approved IOSH (The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) trainer. He delivers the OHSS training programme “Managing Safely for Construction Project Supervisors” and the IOSH “Managing Client Contractor Relationships”. Keith also holds primary qualifications in the field of Quarrying and Minerals Engineering and is a member of The Institute of Explosives Engineers.
Ann Bollard – Training and Quality Manager and Safety Consultant
Ann is a training professional with over 10 years experience in both the corporate and NGO sectors. She is a qualified OHSAS18001 Auditor and has been involved in the implementation of Safety Management Systems with client companies such as BTW, McNally Kitchens and Wavin. Holding a Graduate Diploma in Training and Development with the Institute of Commercial Management, Ann is responsible for the ongoing management of the OHSS ISO 17025/17020 Quality System and the organisation and development of training programmes both in-house and directly with OHSS clients.
Patrick J Hurley - Consultant
Patrick is primarily active in the field of asbestos and advising on, and acting in, PSDP roles. He has over 30 years experience with Local Authorities, a considerable amount of this time was spent at senior management level. Consequently Patrick has extensive experience in housing construction projects, maintenance management systems, property development and project management in particular PPP type developments.
He is a member of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (RIAI).
Anthony Maunsell – Asbestos Consultant
Prior to joining OHSS as an Asbestos Consultant, Anthony worked as an Asbestos Surveyor and Analyst on the London Underground in the UK.
He has a primary degree in Environmental Sciences and has completed the BOHS courses S301 in Asbestos and Other Fibres, P402 Buildings Surveys and Bulk Sampling for Asbestos, P403 Asbestos Fibre Counting, P404 Air Sampling and Clearance Testing of Asbestos, P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings & P406 Supervision and Management of the Safe Removal and Disposal of Asbestos.
