Asbestos News - A Story Highlighting the Clear and Present Danger that Asbestos Still Poses If ever there was a story that illustrated the fact that asbestos still poses a major danger to human health in the modern day, it is the tale of a young family in Littleton, Colorado who ended up losing everything thanks to the deadly, carcinogenic material being found in the ceiling of their family home.

Asbestos removal is a very tricky task that requires a good deal of know-how and skill, which Chris and Natasha Mitchell found to their cost, when returning home after instructing a contractor to ‘scrape’ their ‘popcorn’ ceiling. Instead of finding a completed job, they returned to find what was described as ‘a major asbestos spill’.

This required a asbestos removal and disposal operation that ultimately ruined all of their personal belongings, as asbestos dust was found on pretty much everything in the house. This made the whole area a hazard zone, as any one of the billions of airborne particles could lead to a serious and possibly even fatal illness.

What this case shows is that even in the modern day, there is still a major role for asbestos companies to play in protect people from asbestos that still exists in vast amounts in buildings built before the substance was banned almost 20 years ago.
