Surveying for Asbestos in Premises and Risk Assessments

OHSS is accredited to ISO 17020 and ISO 17025. These pertain to surveying for asbestos and risk assessments, and analysis of asbestos in bulk materials. These certifications allow us to perform surveys for asbestos in premises as well as risk assessments.

Background sampling checks the levels of ambient airborne fibres before any work begins to check for airborne asbestos contamination. Leak testing is a method used to check for leaks once an enclosure has been set up. Outside and adjacent areas are tested during the removal process to be sure that asbestos isn’t escaping into the environment.

Reassurance sampling is used once work has been completed and any enclosures have been removed to confirm that any residual airborne asbestos contamination are lower than .01 fibres per cubic centimetre of air sampled.

Site clearance is done in stages after the asbestos has been managed or removed. First we check that the job is completed, and we do a visual inspection. Next we do clearance air monitoring to make sure that the air quality is safe for re-entry. Then we do a final assessment before dismantling any enclosures and work areas.

You can count on OHSS because we only use technicians who are trained to perform sampling and testing. We always provide appropriate laboratory accommodations to ensure the accuracy of our testing, and we only use testing methods that are approved by the World Health Organisation. We always use the appropriate equipment for the task, and we maintain equipment calibration programs.
