Asbestos exposure: Asbestos-containing materials were missed as part of a survey by another contractor. This was highlighted during a survey by OHSS. Our brief was safe removal of the material.

Steps taken:

    Risk assessment
    Staff briefings
    Liaison with medical staff
    Execution of the remediation plan

We provided emergency monitoring and advice to all parties. We developed a remediation plan with the client. We discussed with staff their concerns about exposure, and developed a risk exposure estimate.

Tangible benefit:

Since OHSS is accredited, our client was assured that the work was carried out to the highest standards, and that all test results would stand up to scrutiny. We had the experience to come up with a cost-effective solution, and to reassure anxious employees
