BACKGROUND:

Occupational Hygiene and Safety Services (OHSS) is an occupational health and safety based consultancy that specialises in the area of safety and occupational hygiene.  It is our goal to provide quality cost effective services.  It is our aim to continuously exceed the expectations of our clients and to develop long term working relationships.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual who can work as part of a team but have the ability to work on their own initiative. 

ROLE: Asbestos Consultant 


Key Responsibilities:


Carry out investigations, analysis, examinations, surveys, research and development as required.
Conduct Four Stage Clearance, Air Monitoring / Fibre Counting
Perform on-site sampling, interpretations and testing to ensure compliance with the relevant standards.
Take part in external proficiency trials as required.
Report findings together with any professional opinions and interpretations.
Carry out risk assessments as required.
Liaise with customers to establish contract requirements.
Promote continuous improvement by monitoring work instructions, procedures and working practices and identify and implement improvements.
Carry out work in a professional manner at all times.
Assist in the organisation of training programmes as required and train and instruct staff as needed.
Attend courses or meetings which the Managing Director feels would be beneficial to the business.
Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by the Managing Director.
Keep up to date with new and proposed legislation, scientific and technological developments, which are likely to affect the work of Occupational Hygiene & Safety Services ltd.


Experience/Qualifications:

BOHS P402 Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings is essential
P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings
P403: Asbestos Fibre Counting (PCM) (including Sampling Strategies)
P404: Air Sampling of Asbestos and MMMF and Requirements for a Certificate of Reoccupation Following Clearance of Asbestos
P401 Identification of Asbestos In Bulk Samples (preferable but not essential)
Familiarity of working for a UKAS accredited company
Experience of undertaking various asbestos surveys in a variety of commercial and domestic properties.
Experience of using hand held data collectors is desirable but not essential as training will be provided
Qualification in the field of Environmental or Health and Safety (preferable) 


General Requirements:

Full clean driving license.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
Good eye for detail and the ability to work under pressure
Flexible approach (some out of hours, weekend, overnight work and travel will apply)
Desire to maximise full potential through further training and site based experience.

Contract

Permanent Role
Located in Dublin but country wide travel required.
